I am fucking 31 years old, which is absolutely wild in a sense because I feel like I was 23 and on top of the world yesterday, not nearly a decade ago. On paper (and via Instagram) my life’s great, always out with friends, trips etc. I’ve had coworkers tell me “man, you’re always having the time of your life”. That’s the thing, life is fucking short and you just gotta live it. Stop worrying about “oh it’s not a good time, 6 months would be better”.

Here’s the thing, I’ve really struggled with this blog & account because I always felt like oh if I did this I would get more followers, or if I use this setting, or that. But here’s the reality of it, I’m a fucking hot mess some days I have my shit together and sometimes I look like a walking garbage bag. So stick around, I’m gonna be my authentic self on here. The bad cooking attempts, the blackouts, boys I need to stop sleeping with. Your 20s are fun, but your 30s are much better. This about being yourself and not worrying about that aestheticly pleasing IG Feed, or being “that girl”. I don’t stick with my healthy routines, I sleep with makeup on, I’ll wear the same jeans back to back and honestly that is okay.

This is the 2020’s, women have to work, the internet is wild and I think everyone spends more time on Tik Tok than we want to admit and honestly shit is fucking hard man. Shit is hard.

Oh hello friends, been a hot second huh? However you know if I find something awesome I’ll pop back up here from time to time (hopefully more, and I know I know I say this every year and then disappear. It’s endearing really)

LOOK HOW GOOD MY HAIR LOOKS! Did I go to the salon? Nope. Even Mama TFB couldn’t believe it and thought I used an iron on it! When I did the treatment I did it at night because I refuse to be a morning person and I’m thrilled to say my hair still looks like that at 9:08 am (I do need to straighten my cowlick – but that doesn’t count)

She’s a hard person to convince

The product is ridiculously easy to use, you do need about an hour total so it’s perfect for working in to your girls night out routines (which once Ontario here opens up this will be part of my hair routine). All you need is a blow dryer and a brush, you put the product in damp hair let it sit for 30-40mins (I did about 35) rinse it out a littttle bit (I took this as stand under the shower for 1 min and rub my fingers through) then blow dry and brush and bam your good to go.

{ 2021 Goals}

I haaaaate the term resolutions. I never stick to them. But goals, goals are easier, they are things you are more than likely happening in your life right now. Here’s a list of things I want to work on for myself over the course of 2021 & more than likely a huge source of content for the blog.

  1. Read One Book per month: Call me Reese Witherspoon, cause I’m starting a book club. I have a whole bunch of half read books and I just want more. So this is a fun way where I can meet this goal – look for it starting in January with the 1st book “How to Date Men When You Hate Men“.

2. Start Meditating: a targeted sponsored ad on my personal Instagram gave me a whole year FREE of Balance. I’m really excited to start this.

3. Begin a Gratitude Journal: During quarantine I had purchased this 5 minute journal and I had started it with the best intentions, but in 2021 I want to use it more.

4. Volunteer: The company I do my 9-5 with is very charitable, which has me inspired to do more for my community.

5. Travel somewhere new: Given Covid is still very much happening, and my province is in lockdown till end of January – travel has changed (and I work for a resort). I want more little adventures, random road trips in 2021.

6. Get My $$ in order: My finances are a mess. Always has been. I really want to focus on paying off things, paying things and living a little less paycheck to paycheck. This potentially might be a series on the blog.

7. Focus on my health + wellness: I do not eat healthy. I do not work out. I have mental health issues which are a struggle some days. I want to focus on my overall health in 2021.

What are some of the goals you have for yourself in 2021?

{skin care for the lazy girl}

I’ve put off this post for LITERAL years. Mostly cause if we’re being honest I’m the absolute worst at skin care. Like trash. Full disclaimer. I’m a 30 year old with Tik Tok and the Internet. I am not a skin care guru in any way, these are loose suggestions for what has worked with my skin over the years.

Alright first up Tea Tree Oils. I bought a skin care pack a few years ago from The Body Shop. Still honestly one of my favourite products. I have the toner, cleanser & moisturizer. The website describes the products wonderfully and it works on my combination (but mostly oily) skin. I would do this once a week maybe twice in the winter.

Next up we have the Internet’s favourite The Ordinary. Sephora now has a lot more options then when I originally purchased so in 2021 I will be adding to this.

• Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5: Alright, we are doing this AM & PM. ESPECIALLY IN WINTER. This little baby prevents dryness and with winter and wearing masks it’s a must have and only $7 CAD.

Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG: This is for the dark circles and reducing puffiness under your eyes. We Fu*king love it. I have told everyone who will listen about this. My personal brand is dark raccoon eyes from being permanently exhausted. $7 CAD.

  • 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil: This is a support formula, reduces photo-aging and other skin conditions. Less is more with this product.
  • Lactic Acid 10% + HA: This one is like my back pocket saviour, it helps with uneven skin tones, fine line and wrinkles (too poor for botox) and dullness and uneven texture. All things that I personally have. Botox in a bottle baby. Oh and we do this in our night routine.

The next product I got in a FabFitFun starter box, it’s called Whish Firming Sleep Mask: this tightens and firms and hydrates your skin overnight. My skin always feels great when I wake up the next morning. It’s definitely a more high end product but if you are in your mid 20’s to early 30’s it’s worth the investment.

Last two on the list were gifted to me by Sephora & Influenster. Due to the price point alone I wouldn’t typically pick them up on my own accord. However, when I say the products wow’d me, they did. I use the Belif True Cream Moisturizing Bomb has done wonders for my skin especially during the winter months. I think it might be too heavy for an every day summer skin care but would be great when your getting out of lakes, hot tubs & pools. I was also gifted Youth Creator – Age Knockdown Bomb, the formula is very lightweight and silky, gives a little extra hydration to your skin. I’ve been using it around my eyes mostly and some trouble spots on my skin, due to the price of this object I’m using it as a spot treatment. Seems to be working though, I would end up more than likely purchasing this product alone if someone gave me a gift card.

So this is my personal round up of skin care, we shall call it skin care you need for when you are a lazy person (as I do this maybe on a good week once, but mostly twice a month and we are thriving).

fall bingeworthy movies

I like fall because of the pretty leaves, cooler weather, scarfs, oversized sweaters but most importantly it starts my seasonal movie binge and Hallmark starts Christmas movies on October 23rd this year so I’m quite excited for that.

I’ve complied a list of movies that are an absolute must watch for me in Fall. For the Hallmark movies they are on demand I’ve used Stackd TV through my Amazon Prime membership (12.99/month with 30 day free trial) if you are in Canada, it gets you the W Network among other great channels.

easy quesadillas

FIRST OF ALL, I’m just going to say it. I’ve never had a quesadilla in my life to making ten of them and sticking them in a freezer. Yeah, I’m really THAT person. Anyways, no one ever cares about the pre-story of your food, so let’s keep this party rockin’ shall we?

what you need:

  • tortillas (I bought a pack of 10)
  • a thing of spinach in whatever form you want (bagged, plastic container, fresh from your spinach garden)
  • a can of re fried beans
  • cheese (block or shredded, but you will be shredding it)
  • a baking sheet.

As you can tell by the photo that is everything I used. Preheat your oven to at least 375. While that is happening, lay out alllllll your tortillas, open the can of beans, grab a spoon dig into the can and spread the beans on the shells. Then slap on the spinach to your little hearts desire and then add the shredded cheese. Pick up the tortilla shell, fold in half and repeat until you run out of shells.

I was able to fit 4 per baking sheet and I put into the oven for 10 mins and flipping for another 5. Keep doing that until all are cooked.

Put on a plate, let it cool down, put in freezer bags accordingly. and that’s it, you are done.

how to survive corona virus (when you do not get to work from home)

Just like all of you, I see everyone working from home (which is my personal life goal) but unfortunately I am at work as we haven’t been shut down yet.

  1. This should be SUPER obvious by now, but wash your damn hands.
  2. Plan ahead as much as you can. I’m talking, food, bills, work, gas.
  3. Disinfect, disinfect, disinfect.
  4. SELF CARE Y’ALL.
  5. Stay hydrated, HOT fluids vs cold.
  6. Get rest (I went to bed at 630 pm the night before I wrote this and woke up at 9:30 am the next day)
  7. Only go out if you need to
  8. Only buy what you need (You probably do not need 47 cans of tomato soup for yourself, but please ask your loved ones if you can grab things for them.
  9. Social distancing (also great to get out of your dates)
  10. Do your best, be conscious of others, you may be healthy but others are not.

I know a lot of these are super obvious, but if you’re gonna be out in the world because you still need to make an income remember, just cause your careful doesn’t mean others are.

How to have a successful month (and stay organized)

This is one thing I’ve really been struggling with and it’s staying organized and on top of my sh*t. Lately, I have not been and avoiding them at all costs.

Dry Erase Boards

I got mine at the dollar store for $4 and it came with a magnet to put on the fridge. Mine is set up with dates and when things are generally due and what events I have coming up. As this is on my fridge, I personally don’t put the totals owing. But I find it’s great for a quick glance and for those oh crap moments.

Daily Planners

I have my planner just like everyone else in the world. My 9-5 job has commissions involved so I also add those on the days I earn them so I know what to expect on my paycheck. I use my monthly view in my planner for the actual totals due and if I need to split up payments for anything. I also include my paydays for easy reference.

Habit Tracker

This is something I’m trying for the month of March, I found print outs on Pinterest and found one that seems to work for me I’ve listed the tasks such as:

  • water consumption
  • skin care
  • a “five minute” tidy
  • dishes
  • deep clean (once a week)
  • review finaces

Those are just some examples, but I didn’t want to start with an overwhelming list as part of the reason is to also get into the habit of marking it down.

A Budget

Now, this is actually going to be a whole separate post later in the month. Budgets are scary and being accountable is scarier. Start to really look at your fiances. I downloaded the Mint app, and set budgets through the app and it sends me notifications when I’ve over spent in categories.
